Terms of Service

Last updated October 7, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Dave Truett, who operates KinMap (6128 MacBeth Dr., West Lafayette, IN 47906). By creating an account or using KinMap, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

What KinMap is — and isn’t

KinMap is an informational directory: a place to record what accounts, policies, property and documents exist, where the records are kept, and who to contact, and to share chosen parts of it with people you trust.

KinMap is not:

Keep your original legal documents where your attorney advises, and talk to a professional about your situation.

Your account

You must be at least 18 and give accurate information. Keep your password, passkeys and two-step sign-in secure; you’re responsible for activity on your account. Two-step sign-in is required before you invite anyone. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used your account.

What you may not store

Don’t enter passwords, PINs, security answers, full account or card numbers, private keys or recovery phrases, or anything you don’t have the right to record. KinMap blocks full account and card numbers it recognizes, but you’re responsible for what you enter. Don’t use KinMap for anything unlawful, to harass anyone, or to try to access information that hasn’t been shared with you.

Sharing with trusted people

You choose who to invite and what each person can see, and you can pause or remove access at any time. Choose carefully: people can see what you shared while they had access and could have noted it down — removing access stops future viewing, not what they already saw.

If someone shares their KinMap with you: you can view it free, without a password. Use what’s shared only to help the person who shared it or their family, and keep it confidential. An invitation link is for you alone; don’t forward it.

If the owner of a KinMap dies or becomes unable to manage it, access stays exactly as they set it. We don’t give anyone additional access.

Plans, payment and refunds

Your content

Your KinMap is yours. You give us permission to store, encrypt, process and display it only to run KinMap for you and the people you share it with. We don’t claim ownership of it and don’t use it for advertising.

Availability and changes

We work to keep KinMap available and secure, but we can’t promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may improve or change features; we’ll tell you in advance about changes that significantly reduce what you’ve paid for, and you may cancel for a refund of the unused part of your year if that happens.

Ending

You can delete your account at any time (Settings → Your data). We delete your KinMap right away and from backups within 30 days. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk, with notice where reasonable. If we ever discontinue KinMap, we’ll give at least 90 days’ notice so you can download your information, and refund the unused part of any paid year.

Disclaimers and limits

KinMap is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties that it will meet every need or be free of errors, and we aren’t responsible for decisions you or others make based on what’s in a KinMap or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about KinMap is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if that’s more. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection law that can’t be limited.

Disputes

If something goes wrong, please email us first — most problems can be solved quickly. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

Changes to these terms

We’ll post changes here with a new date and email account holders about significant changes at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using KinMap after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
